Gatik raises $200M to push driverless middle-mile freight from dozens of trucks to thousands
Gatik said Tuesday it closed a $200 million Series D led by the Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies, with Millennium Management, ARK Invest and Intact Private Capital joining. The autonomous carrier, which runs fixed regional routes between distribution centers and stores for customers including Walmart, Kroger and PepsiCo, reported 85,000 completed driverless orders, more than $600 million in contracted revenue and 99% on-time delivery across Texas, Arizona, Arkansas and Canada. It is the company's largest round to date and roughly doubles its total capital raised; 25,000 of those driverless orders were completed in the last seven months.
Our take: The pitch is contracted revenue and route discipline, not a demo reel — these lanes replenish store shelves against fixed delivery windows, which is exactly where predictable autonomy pays. Nauta pulls in the BMW, Bosch, Hitachi and Yamaha venture arms for supply-chain AI agents
Nauta, a San Francisco startup building what it calls an "operational brain" for global trade, announced on August 26 a strategic round led by BMW i Ventures, Bosch Ventures, Hitachi Ventures and Yamaha Motor Ventures, with existing backers Construct Capital and Predictive participating; financial terms were not disclosed. The company unifies fragmented data from every system, document and email into a single AI-native layer, then runs purpose-built agents that reason, decide and execute against a company's actual SKUs, contracts and lanes. Nauta says it has built the first real-world deployments of this approach at industrial scale and plans to expand into trade payments.
Our take: A syndicate of industrial corporates writing strategic checks signals that AI agents for trade operations have moved past the slide deck — but an "operational brain" is only as good as the integrations beneath it. Hai Robotics passes 10,000 contracted HaiPick Climb robots
Hai Robotics said this week that more than 10,000 of its HaiClimber case-handling robots have now been contracted across customer projects, since the HaiPick Climb system's global launch in 2025. The tower-style robots move totes in high-bay racking at up to 4 meters per second and are running in 12 countries for customers including ANTA, Panasonic, Arvato, ITOCHU and Mettler Toledo. The company said eight customers have either expanded existing installations or bought the system again for new sites.
Our take: Repeat purchases are the number that matters in an ASRS milestone — they say throughput held up after go-live, which a vendor's cumulative unit count never does on its own.
